“Thank you so much for your lessons – they really made me feel so much more confident enjoy teaching and explaining things was perfect for me. Thank you!”
Anna, Haddenham (refresher lessons)

“Just wanted to say thank you to Fiona for teaching my daughter Cait to drive and pass her test at first attempt. Cait is now a competent and confident driver who really enjoys driving. She loved her lessons with Fiona, who always put her at ease. Cait received her Pass Plus certificate in the post this morning – the lessons were really useful, especially the motorway module. It was also a great chance to have a friendly post test catch up! I would recommend Destiny Driving School wholeheartedly”
Tracey, Stone

“Fiona was an excellent teacher. Her attention to detail with each lesson plan as well as the depth of knowledge and experience enabled me to pass first time. Not only did her teaching lead to a good test result but made me a safe and aware driver, which is far more important than just passing a test.”
George, Towersey

“I’m so glad I found Destiny Driving School as Fiona is a great instructor. I was very nervous to begin with but she was reassuring and put me at ease. Her patience and encouragement helped increase my confidence and I don’t think I would have passed first time if I had gone with another driving school”
Chloe, Aylesbury

“When I first began my lessons with Fiona, I had been driving for over two years. I had failed my driving test four times and the expiry date on my theory test was soon approaching. I had lost a lot of confidence and I needed a calm and patient instructor. Fiona is exactly that, calm and patient. Very quickly my confidence was back to where it once was and this time I felt I had a better understanding of the roads and manoeuvres. Following road signs and lane discipline were my weakest points and within the few months I was with Fiona I felt ready to take my test again. The day I passed was the best feeling I could imagine and thanks to Fiona I am now a much more confident driver butmost importantly a qualified one! I highly recommend to anyone who is in need of a calm and non-judgmental instructor, use Destiny Driving School.”
Adam, Wendover

“I can wholeheartedly recommend Fiona both for learning to drive and the Pass Plus course. I didn’t think it was possible for anyone to be so calm in a car with a complete beginner, but Fiona took me through every stage of learning to drive – not just learning to pass my test – and was always on hand with advice, guidance, and useful tips. I could not have passed without her!”
Ella, Haddenham

“I was quite scared to start driving and prone to panicking or becoming very nervous behind the wheel, but now I actually enjoy driving. Fiona helped a lot by being a calm and patient teacher. She won’t just teach you to pass a test, she’ll teach you to drive properly, which is exactly what I needed. I would definitely recommend Fiona to anyone nervous to start driving as she will make you feel very comfortable behind the wheel!”
Annie, Haddenham

“Destiny Driving School is a perfect choice when learning to drive, Fiona teaches you how to drive, not just to pass your test, but so you can drive safe for the rest of your life. Fiona is a fantastic teacher, she’s very patient and she will make you feel very comfortable in and out if the car. I would highly recommend Destiny Driving School for anyone who is learning to drive, from beginners to experienced drivers. Many thanks for the time you’ve put in for me Fiona, I wish you all the best!”
Ed, Haddenham

“Just like to say a massive thanks to Fiona Ladyman for helping me go from no experience whatsoever in a car to being able to pass my test with just 2 minors, I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a patient and understanding driving instructor to choose Destiny Driving School”
James, Stone

Bad Habits Are Hard To Break!

Lots of learners pass first time with Destiny Driving School.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better driving instructor than Fiona. I started learning when I turned 17 last year and haven’t looked back since. Fiona took me through everything I needed to know with precision and understanding and made sure I understood everything she said and didn’t rush ahead. Anything that could be improved upon was thanks to Fiona’s skill at teaching. I passed my practical test in one try and with ease and have just finished the Pass Plus Scheme and couldn’t have got this far without her teaching”
Nicholas, Stone

“I can honestly say that Destiny (Fiona) is an excellent driving school and my son Blake, who was taught by Fiona, passed his test first time aged 17! Of course, we hoped he would, but realistically, given the stringency of the test these days, it’s easy to fail too and we were quite prepared to face this. He has since enhanced this achievement by taking the ‘Pass Plus’ course which he found very worthwhile and would recommend it to any new driver!”
Carlo (Blake’s father), Stone

“Before learning to drive I felt very nervous and uncomfortable with the idea of it, even my parents thought I’d never be a very confident driver. However, after having Fiona as my instructor I passed my test first time! Fiona is such a kind and gentle person with brilliant teaching methods which helped me a lot, especially with the maneuvers. I have also completed the Pass Plus course with Fiona which I recommend as it has furthered my learning and will keep me safer on the roads. I really enjoy driving now and have found that my experience with Fiona will last a lifetime. I really can’t thank her enough!”
Demi, Stone

Provisional License Points On The Increase

Did you know that a fifth of UK motoring offenders, almost 54,000 learners have received points before even passing their test? These were the collective offences – some obviously charged with more than one!

Speeding (60 percent)
Jumping a red light (43 percent)
No insurance (33 percent)
Driving carelessly (16 percent)

A lot of learners are unaware that they can even receive points before passing their test, so be warned – the last thing you need so to finally get on the road having passed your test and you’re already well on the way to losing your license, not to mention the danger to yourself and the public when you offend.

Destiny Driving School in Aylesbury aims to give you the best possible start to your driving life and, given the right instruction and armed with the proper knowledge, offending before your test will just simply not be an option.

Theory Tests Will Soon Be Cheaper

Good news – in October of this year the cost of theory tests will come down from £31 to £25 and there will be a further reduction in October 2015 to £23. Every little helps!

Unlicensed Driving Instructors Warning

Every day, Police are now discovering unlicensed driving instructors following 30 roadside operations since 2011. Learner drivers should be vigilant to these fraudsters and check their instructor’s qualifications before even opening the car door. If you don’t, you could be sitting next to somebody you know nothing about who may not have even been through any criminal background checks, which of course is an absolute must to gain a valid driving instructor license. We at Destiny Driving School, Aylesbury will be glad to help with any queries relating to this if you’re not sure, and in the meantime here’s some useful information that every student should know:

Pink badge – trainee driving instructor limited to 6 month’s teaching
Green badge – fully qualified instructor

These badges should always be displayed on the windscreen… and check the dates!

Beware Copycat Websites

There is only one place to book your theory and practical driving tests and that is through the official DSA website. Destiny Driving School has links to these on the homepage under Useful Links and, unless you want to pay too much, the DSA website is the only place you should be visiting to book these tests. £31 and £62 are what you should be paying for theory and practical tests respectively. The DSA have already informed Trading Standards and the Advertising Standards Authority and feel that these sites are misleading consumers and tricking them into paying extra fees. Please use only the following addresses:

Dangerous Instructors To Get The Boot!

Safe driving with DestinyShould dangerous driving instructors be allowed to roam the streets whilst under investigation? That has been the case up until now. New rules will now see this come to an end. No longer will the process take 45 days to remove the potential offenders from the streets – the ADI registrar can now suspend ADIs immediately whilst the formal process takes place. The suspension power will most likely be used where instructors have been convicted of a violent or sexual offence, or are delivering tuition of a dangerously low standard. (more…)

Pupil Referral Scheme

The majority of our pupils are the result of referrals from existing or past pupils.

Destiny Driving School operates a referral reward scheme whereby, if a pupil refers a relation, friend, colleague or acquaintance to the school, and that person then becomes a pupil, the referrer is rewarded with a free 1hr lesson by way of a ‘thank you’.

Nervous Drivers

nervous-driversMany pupils are very nervous of the whole driving experience. Although they like the idea of the freedom and independence that comes with driving, many actually find the thought of controlling the car very daunting and have serious doubts about their own ability. Nervous pupils and those lacking in confidence need real understanding, patience and considerably more encouragement than other pupils. Here at Destiny, we pride ourselves on offering that support and understanding, enabling the pupil to feel relaxed and overcome these inhibitions. (more…)

The Practical Test

This will last between 35 and 40 minutes and will test your ability to drive safely on different types of roads and in a variety of traffic conditions. At the beginning of the test you will be asked to read a number plate from the required distance of 20.5m or 20m (depending on whether it is an old-style or new-style number plate). (more…)

The Theory Test

Before you can take your practical test you will need to take and pass your theory test. This comprises two parts, the first consisting of 50 multiple choice questions and the second, referred to as the Hazard Perception Test, consisting of 14 video clips. You need to obtain a pass mark of 43 out of 50 on the first section AND a pass mark of 44 out of 75 on the hazard perception part to be awarded a ‘pass’ on the theory test.
